From your OLTA Education Committee
By: Joy J. Scheller, Member
Popularized by the 1999 release of a movie by the same name, this phrase has been used to emphasize everything from meditation/sleep techniques, philosophical theories, biblical teachings, social commentary, poetic writings and political/ government/corporate criticisms.
But what does it have to do with the title industry?
The movie you see or the article you read may have you wriggling in your seat and leave you thinking at the end about what you've seen/read and what you believe the meaning was for you. But a well-investigated and abstracted title and escrow closing should have you thinking from the opening move through to the moment you sign the certificate, issue the commitment, sit at the closing table, or write the title policy. Hopefully, when you complete those tasks you have a clear picture of all the elements and how they build together to reveal the entire makeup of the "title/transaction." You shouldn't be unclear about any matters and nothing should be left to chance.

About Our Members
Vision Inspires Presentation
The Women's Oklahoma Golf Association has been in existence for 90 years. But it was not until after the turn of the century that the organization decided to honor people who have made a major impact for the game and group.
Four women were enshrined in the WOGA's first Hall of Fame class on May 15th at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. Along with three other members, OLTA's own Jarita Askins was among the first members. Ann Watkins, who leads the WOGA's Hall of Fame committee, acknowledged in her presentation remarks that Askins served the game with leadership and is credited with implementing the USGA Course Rating System for women in the state. The system established a portable handicap method where women could play on an equal basis with other women by factoring in the difficulty of the golf course being played. It remains in effect today. OLTA congratulates Jarita Askins on this award.
